After the recent government announcement both our churches are closed for public worship. We will re open on Sunday 6th December. In the meantime we are continuing with our online services - details below. Please do get in touch if we can be of help.
The two churches of St. Luke's and St.Michael and All Angels are in the beautiful Avon Valley, just north of Christchurch. Burton is in Dorset and Sopley is in Hampshire. We aim to be friendly and welcoming congregations.
Our online services are continuing and can be found on our youtube channel - Benefice of Burton & Sopley. The link to the next service is shown above.
Our Regular Services (but see above) Our worship is centred around the Eucharist and is open to all. The pattern of services we follow is- At the moment we are having simple, said Eucharists each Sunday 9.30 am at St. Luke's, Burton 11.00 am at St. Michael & All Angels, Sopley These last about half an hour Other services will be advertised as necessary. All are welcome to any of our services.
Christmas Services It seem very unlikely that we will be able to safely do the services that have happened in the past. We are severely limited in the numbers that would be able to attend and many will be unwilling to meet with others inside. We will do what we can. There will be an online Carol Service and the Crib Service has been recorded and is being prepared for release before Christmas. Also, a Christmas service for those on their own. We will not be able to have a Midnight Mass but will have a service at each church on Christmas Morning, assuming that there are not restrictions in place that prevent that. Also, there will be a Carol Concert using St. Luke’s bells – probably at least twice before Christmas. The situation is very fluid still and these arrangements may change. This site will be updated to reflect anything different.
